Tietgen Byen is named after one of Odense’s most famous citizens, the financier Carl Frederik Tietgen (1829-1901). C.F. Tietgen founded a number of major companies that came to form the basis for the industrialisation of Denmark, including DFDS, Store Nordiske Telegraf-Selskab, DANISCO and Tuborg.
Odense’s ideal location, good offers to the business community and sensible prices for lots and buildings have resulted in a steady increase in the number of business lots sold. The growing demand was met by Odense Municipality in 1999 with the establishment of Tietgen Byen: It was a new business area in the outskirts of Odense, next to the motorway.
